Pacquiao-Marquez 3 is worth to wait

Many boxing fans were glad that it took 3 years before they arrange the rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. The long wait after the controversial 2008 Pacquiao vs Marquez fight has actually benefited both boxers. The 2008 fight was actually the second time that Pacquiao and Marquez faced each other. Pacquiao took a split decision victory in that match. Their first meeting in 2004 ended in a controversial draw, despite Pacquiao knocking down Marquez three times in the first round. "Our plan was to put Manny in fights so he increases his pay-per-view revenue, the number of homes, the excitement," said Arum during Saturday's Pacquiao-Marquez press tour in Manila.

"Yes this fight was delayed, yes, maybe Juan Manuel Marquez was a better opponent for Manny than Antonio Margarito, than Joshua Clottey, but now we are confident that this fight will approach 2 million homes," he added.

Bigger fight revenue means bigger earnings for both boxers, according to Arum. For years, fight fans have been clamoring for a rematch between the two fighters especially after the closely fought match in 2008 that had Pacquiao winning over Marquez by merely a point.

"Boxing is a sport that is a business," said Arum. “All things happen for a reason and i’m just delighted that this fight is happening now.”
